I have tons of energy and am disabled, but don't let it stop me from moving forward. You likely won't see much of me in video as my face is paralyzed. So use that smile! Still I will be doing how to videos focused on showing the product I am creating, or techniques I am using from a Go Pro or a similar device. I look forward to sharing my skills in new ways and new formats.
No View Farm Journey
Building the farm has been my life's work.. I drew the original plans for the A-Frame and started in 1983 with spending all of our savings to put in a foundation. My dad dug the hole and he and I laid the foundation during my 2 week vacation. Hardest working vacation of my life , but the most rewarding to be building the foundation to my future dreams. We put a decking on it and starting saving more money.. Next year with the help of my dad we put the A-frame walls up and sheathed the building.. Winter came and by spring we saved enough to put the roof on the house, and begin insulating the inside. . That winter we worked on it as much as possible, putting in the kitchen, framing o ut the bedrooms downstairs and the bathroom. By that winter we had moved into the unfinished house and have been working on it since.
1992 The Sweet Spot and No View
In 1992, we decided to start producing maple syrup for sale and we needed a name for the bottles and our state licensing. At the farm the only things in the view shed was pine forest , 6 houses and the road. A farm 1/4 mile away, in the same town, already had the name Pine in it.. So Pine anything would cause confusion. So looking around while talking about it on the deck, made me say, "well, clearly we have NO VIEW".. and that was it.. Our neighbors cut down most of the trees around us about 4 years ago and changed our view to include the mountains and river when the water is high.
2000 A Year of Huge Growth for the Farm
In 2000 we got a bank loan and purchased the land from my parents and added a mud room and an attached garage, new windows, roofing and siding. We started doing some wood working including benches & birdhouses. We added 4 greenhouses and opened the farmstand. Attended 5 farmers markets for many years .
2003
The garage section was changed into living space in 2003. This area is now our Inn bedrooms that we rent to the public,. This area also houses our Local Artisan Gift Shop.
2005 We have a dye spill occur on our road affect all of our crops in the 4 greenhouses and our fields. .. State requires us to dump all plants as they are considered adulterated from the saturation of dye.
2020 We have been forced to cut back to 2 greenhouses, just too much work for me to maintain with bad knees.
